Safety & Compliance

Safety forms the foundation of every power line and water infrastructure project at KS hydro power (u) Limited. The company strictly enforces occupational health standards, ongoing technical training, and environmental regulations to protect field personnel, site workers, utility networks, and local communities.

Worker Health & Safety Standards

Tailboard Meetings & Daily Briefings
Before starting work each morning, field teams conduct tailboard meetings on-site. Crew leaders review job specifications, potential high-voltage hazards, terrain challenges, and task assignments to ensure total operational awareness.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
All field personnel wear certified protective gear suited to high-voltage and civil construction environments, including flame-resistant clothing, insulated gloves, hard hats, safety harnesses, eye protection, and steel-toe footwear. Equipment undergoes regular safety testing prior to deployment.

Emergency & First Aid Preparedness
Every service vehicle is equipped with first aid kits, emergency tools, mobile communication equipment, red safety flags, and back-up warning beepers. Field crews receive active training in first aid, CPR, and high-voltage rescue procedures to handle unexpected site emergencies.

Regulatory & Environmental Compliance

KS hydro power (u) Limited aligns all field operations with national infrastructure and environmental management guidelines.

Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA)
Adhering to national electrical codes, grid connection standards, and safety specifications set by utility authorities like Umeme.

Environmental Standards (NEMA & NFA)
Following National Environment Management Authority and National Forestry Authority guidelines during line routing, vegetation clearing, and civil works to preserve natural habitats.

Inter-Agency Coordination (UCC & MEMD)
Coordinating closely with the Uganda Communications Commission and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development on utility corridor usage, right-of-way permissions, and tower setup activities.

Equipment Inspections & Operational Safety

Pre-Use Vehicle & Machinery Testing

Field trucks, cranes, and heavy machinery undergo daily inspections to verify mechanical integrity and hydraulic safety before heading to job sites.

Line Isolation & Earthing Protocols

Crews strictly follow industry lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, testing and earthing power lines before commencing physical maintenance or construction work.

Rigging & High-Mast Safety

High-structure climbing and tower assembly require dual-lanyard fall-arrest systems and certified rigging gear inspected before every ascent.

Our safety system comprises of the following;
